Another delicious Akawa Project offering, and yet a little different from our usual Burundi Naturals. This time it’s a Washed Processed coffee from Ngozi Provence in the mountains of Northern Burundi. It has great body and sweetness with a real creamy caramel depth and dried apricot zing.
The Akawa Project provides advice and financial support to the Farmers of the region with the goal of increasing the quality of coffee cherries produced, fetching a higher price at the market and in turn, helping to improve the quality of life for these farmers. A local nursery has been established to support farmers with coffee tree seedlings and cover crops alongside the Water Program set up to identify and assist farmers with limited water supply. Also focusing on soil fertility, the Goat Project provides goats to farmers to be shared around, creating social cohesiveness and beautifully rich soil.
